stress-hair-lossAnxiety related hair loss, hair thinning and similar hair and skin problems. Most people don’t know that stress or anxiety can cause numerous hair and skin problems. Anxiety or stress is known for causing everything from hair loss or thinning in both men and women to also skin problems such as skin rashes, excessive wrinkling and deep wrinkles on the face and forehead to name just a few. The big question that we get is how does something internal like stress cause the exterior of your body to have so many issues.

The answer to this is a two fold or two part answer. First of all when stress or anxiety sets in it was never intended to be a lengthy process on the body. Fear was only meant to be felt for a short time. When anxiety, stress or fear set in the body releases numberous chemicals into the body. A chain reaction occurs that then sets off like a row of dominos. When the main hormones are released the body becomes almost super human when adrenaline and other similar hormones are released. However, most of our stresses do not need this super human results we get from adrenaline so it is released into the body and then is never burned off. The same is true with cortisol and many more related hormones. And since most of those that have anxiety, stress or fear issues do not have short term issues but instead longer term issues these chemicals stay at very high, toxic levels in the body. This affects so many different functions of the body two of which are skin and hair. The result is acne, skin rashes, dark circles, falling or thinning hair and on down the line. See part two of this blog post to see the second reason for major body issues related to stress.
